Another South African star player says goodbye to international cricket!

The retirement of the already experienced cricketers comes as another shock to the South African cricket team. Veteran speedster Vernon Philander has announced his farewell.

JOHANNESBURG - The South African cricket team has suffered another shock after the retirement of veteran cricketers, Vernon Philander has said he will retire from international cricket after a four-match Test series against the upcoming touring West Indies.

Philander has played a total of 97 matches in all forms of cricket, scoring 261 wickets and scoring 1784 runs. Philander was also a key player in the team, with his swing bowling when needed.

Philander, who made his Test debut against Australia, took 5 wickets for 15 in his debut. The touring Australians were bowled out for 47 in the second innings. South Africa won the match by 8 wickets.

The 34-year-old paceman, who has amassed 51 wickets in his first 7 Tests for South Africa, was named South African Cricketer of the Year in 2012.

"I would wish to thank my dear father, who has wanted me to play cricket for the country for 12 years. It is a great honor for me to have the opportunity to play alongside the great cricketers of the country," Philander said in a statement released by Cricket South Africa.
